The Poetry of Annie Johnson Flint. December 24, 2020 · Happy Birthday, Annie! Christmas Eve, 1866 - she would have been 154 today! Annie Johnson Flint was a household name in Christian homes before she went to be with her beloved Savior in 1932. She was a prolific writer whose poems and hymns deeply touched the lives of thousands of God’s people around the world. Her secret is that she wrote from her heart out of a life of suffering, pain, and sorrow. Her name was Annie Johnson Flint (1866 - 1932), the author of the poem below. She knew of burdens, the need for courage, she knew of just asking the Lord for the strength for the day. Her Poetry and Hymns were written from her own experiences and adversities. Three years later, little Annie would lose her mother, who died as she gave birth to Annie’s baby sister. Mr. Johnson, who himself was suffering from an incurable disease, willed the children to the Flint family who would bring them up in the Baptist faith.
